Ormiston Families Escape Game

Along with two other designers I helped facilitate the creation of a multiplayer game aimed at small children and charitable helpers, we had a brand standards document to adhere to and regular meetings with the development liaison, during which we had our work examined, and every time it surpassed expectations, and we delivered on every request made by Ormiston families within the 8 week developmental timeframe.

Level 1

This is the first level of the game, it’s an obstacle course race, the game was made for kids, so there isn’t anything too difficult, my main visible contributions to this level was the first falling floor puzzle, and sourcing the music and sound effects

Level 2

This level is similar to the first level but is more challenging with a moving platform obstacle that I originally made for a different level that we didn’t end up using, this was the level that needed the most testing, the main problem was the the ball spawner at the top would spawn 3 balls for every 1 it was supposed to.

Mini Game

The original plan for this level was that it would start with a coop lifting puzzle, one player would lift a slab blocking the path, and they would run under it, then the second player would lift the slab behind it and they’d run under that one and the first player would drop the first slap and pick up the third one and they’d run under that one and so on. But after talking to the client about what they wanted from the game and the context of why the players would be playing it we decided that it would be too slow, so instead what I called ‘the netball puzzle’ because the aim of the puzzle is that players throw the ball to each other to work their way down the pitch, but when they’re holding the ball they can’t move, then at the end of he pitch they throw the ball into the hoop which then adds a point which triggers the door next to the hoop allowing the player to move through to the final section where the player has to avoid obstacles and get to the end of the level. Below are images of my level in various stages of development.
